Saturday night's Powerball drawing came and went without a jackpot winner, sending the multi-state prize into Monday's drawing at a fraction of the sums that made headlines earlier in the week, when a single Illinois ticket walked away with $1.04 billion.
Saturday's Numbers, Confirmed
The white balls drawn on August 15, 2026 were 5, 8, 27, 29 and 63, paired with a red Powerball of 13 and a 2x Power Play multiplier. Nobody matched all six numbers, making it the second straight drawing this month to roll over without a grand-prize winner.
Players who added the Double Play option saw an entirely separate combination called that night — 19, 21, 45, 46 and 65, with a Powerball of 20. That add-on game pays out independently and has no effect on the main jackpot.
Monday's Jackpot Climbs to $35 Million
Heading into Saturday's drawing, the jackpot was widely reported at an estimated $20 million with a cash option near $8.7 million. With no ticket claiming the top prize, the jackpot now advances to an estimated $35 million for Monday, August 17, carrying a cash value of roughly $15.2 million. No matter how large the prize grows, the odds of matching all six numbers hold steady at 1 in 292.2 million.
Saturday's rollover follows one of the biggest lottery moments of the year. A ticket purchased at a Hy-Vee gas station in Quincy, Illinois matched all six numbers in Wednesday's drawing — 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69, with a Powerball of 9 — to win a jackpot that Illinois Lottery officials confirmed at $1.04 billion. The win ended a dry spell that had stretched back to early May and stands as the biggest Powerball prize claimed so far this year. The retailer that sold the ticket collects a $500,000 bonus, and Illinois rules give the winner up to a year to come forward, with no obligation to do so publicly.
Plenty of Smaller Fortunes, Too
Wednesday's drawing produced several other big winners alongside the billion-dollar prize. Four separate tickets matched five white balls to win $1 million each, purchased in Arizona, Florida, North Carolina and California. A fifth five-number match, bought in Massachusetts with the Power Play add-on attached, turned into a $2 million payout.
A separate seven-figure story also made news this week, from earlier in the month. A ticket sold at a Circle K on Walt Williams Road in Lakeland, Florida matched five numbers in the August 8 drawing, and the holder came forward to claim the $1 million prize just days later.
How the Game Works
Powerball drawings happen three nights a week — Monday, Wednesday and Saturday — broadcast live at 10:59 p.m. ET from the Florida Lottery's draw studio in Tallahassee. Players pick five numbers from 1 through 69 and one Powerball number from 1 through 26, or let the terminal generate a random selection. A standard play costs $2, while the Power Play add-on runs an extra $1 and multiplies non-jackpot winnings.
Attention now turns to Monday night, when a $35 million jackpot — modest next to the sums Powerball players have grown used to seeing this year — goes back on the line. Given how quickly the prize reset after August 12's massive win, another rollover would start rebuilding the total toward the kind of numbers that made headlines just days ago.
