Tyler Boebert, the oldest son of Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert, was recently arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a child.
According to the Garfield County Sheriff's Office, Tyler Boebert was taken into custody Aug. 9 and later released on a $10,000 bond. So far, he has not responded to a request for comment, while his mother, Lauren Boebert, said in a statement that they take the allegations very seriously and "pray for everyone affected during this challenging time."
Court records show that Tyler Boebert, the Colorado representative's oldest son, was arrested on five felony counts, including three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The arrest follows an investigation by the Garfield County Sheriff's Office and a felony review process by the 9th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

As noted by NBC News, it was not immediately clear whether Tyler Boebert has a lawyer to speak on his behalf. According to the outlet, the charges are linked to a 2024 video he allegedly recorded with a 17-year-old, based on an affidavit in support of an arrest warrant reviewed by the outlet.
The girl's mother allegedly alerted authorities after a video showing her daughter and Tyler Boebert having sex was posted on Instagram, although the affidavit does not say who allegedly posted the video.
NBC News noted that he was 18 years old and 11 months older than the girl at the time, and that she turned 18 three weeks after the video was recorded on Feb. 1, 2024, according to authorities.
Tyler Boebert is accused of producing, possessing and distributing sexually exploitative material depicting him having intercourse with a girl who was under 18, Colorado Public Radio reported. The affidavit reviewed by the outlet states that Tyler Boebert "caused, induced and enticed a child to be used in explicit sexual conduct for the making of sexually exploitative material."
According to CPR, he had previously been arrested on charges that police described as a string of vehicle trespassing and property thefts. In February 2024, he was arrested in Garfield County by Rifle police after allegedly breaking into vehicles to steal credit cards, driver's licenses and passports.
He pleaded guilty to a felony count of attempted identity theft and received a deferred sentence, community service and probation. Last year, a complaint seeking to revoke his probation was filed in the case, and a sentencing hearing is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2026.
